Lionel Andrey is a demanded clarinettist, especially for chamber music. He is frequently invited to play in different festivals and concert series such as the Davos Festival, the festival Lavaux Classique, Engadina Classica, Schubertiade d’Espace 2, Swiss Chamber Music Festival in Adelboden, Label Suisse festival and abroad…

He premiered pieces by Michael Jarrell (Assonance 1b), the famous clarinetist Charles Neidich (Tempest in a Tea Pot) and many others...

His concerts were recorded live for the radios Espace 2 and SRF Kultur in Switzerland, France Musique in Paris, Yle in Finland, in Japan, etc…

With his Trio Eclipse he is a prizewinner of different competitions, including the prestigious « Osaka International Chamber Music Competition » in 2017.

He has been invited to play as a guest principal clarinetist with the Finnish Radio Orchestra in Helsinki and more recently with the Auckland Philharmonia in New-Zealand in July 2017.

He has also been playing with prestigious orchestras in Switzerland such as the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the Sinfonieorchester Basel, the Gstaad Festival Orchestra under the baton of N. Järvi, S. Mälkki, J. Weilerstein, D. Boyd, M. Venzago, H. Lintu, etc...

Lionel Andrey is a recipient of the Friedl Wald foundation (2014) and of the Migros Cultural Percentage (2015 and 2016).

Lionel Andrey is co-organisator of the festival « Week-End Musical de Pully ».

Lionel Andrey was born in Lausanne in Switzerland in 1990. In 2008 he begins his studies at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in the class of Fabio Di Càsola and from 2010 he continues his studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in the class of Harri Mäki. He finishes his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel in the class of François Benda.

Duo Arto

The Duo Arto is composed by the Swiss clarinetist Lionel Andrey and the French Pianist Flore Merlin. Both musicians met during their studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in Finland.


The Duo Arto is active in Europe, including Switzerland, France, Belgium and Finland. They are often invited to perform in different festivals and concerts series such as Schubertiade d’Espace 2, « Génération Jeunes Interprètes, France Musique », Engadina Classica, etc… Their concerts are regularly recorded by radios such as Espace 2 and France Musique.


The repertoire of the Duo Arto is mostly romantic and modern.

Trio Eclipse



The Trio Eclipse is composed by the clarinetist Lionel Andrey, the cellist Sebastian Braun and the pianist Benedek Horvath.

The three musicians met during their studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel.

The Trio Eclipse is prizewinner of the prestigious « Osaka Chamber Music Competition » in Japan in 2017 and of the « Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music Competition » in December 2015.
